Audi Engine Oil Life Reset Guide

Audi is a German automobile manufacturer that designs, engineers, produces, markets and distributes luxury vehicles. Audi is a member of the Volkswagen Group and has its roots at Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. Audi-branded vehicles are produced in nine production facilities worldwide.

The origins of the company are complex, going back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch; and two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer), leading to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern era of Audi essentially began in the 1960s when Auto Union was acquired by Volkswagen from Daimler-Benz.[9] After relaunching the Audi brand with the 1965 introduction of the Audi F103 series, Volkswagen merged Auto Union with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969, thus creating the present day form of the company.

The company name is based on the Latin translation of the surname of the founder, August Horch. “Horch”, meaning “listen” in German, becomes “audi” in Latin. The four rings of the Audi logo each represent one of four car companies that banded together to create Audi’s predecessor company, Auto Union. Audi’s slogan is Vorsprung durch Technik, meaning “Advancement through Technology”. However, Audi USA had used the slogan “Truth in Engineering” from 2007 to 2016, and have not used the slogan since 2016. Audi, along with BMW and Mercedes-Benz, are among the best-selling luxury automobile brands in the world.

  • Press the turn/push knob. The submenu “Tire pressure” appears.
  • Move the selection arrow to “Store pressures!”.
  •  Press the turn/push knob. A check mark appears. The system reports that the store request was saved with “The current tire pressure will be saved.”
  • Move the selection arrow to back.
  • Press the turn/push knob to leave the tire pressure menu.
  • When “Store pressure!” is initiated the system automatically starts the learning procedure.

The “Store pressures!” procedure must be launched after every change in air pressure and after every wheel change. The system does not know the specification pressure until the procedure is complete so that it can report a loss of pressure.

Learning process

After the specification pressures are stored, the learning procedure starts. The learning procedure is launched by storing the air pressures. It is completely automatic and normally you never notice it. It takes several minutes while you are driving. The system will learn the tire pressures set on the vehicle and will check to see if any tires were changed. During this learning phase, the system will be operable, but it will only issue a warning when the pressure in one or more tires (including the spare) deviates from the specified pressures by more the 6 psi (0.4 bar). If this still does not fix the problem, contact your authorized Audi dealer for assistance.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM, ADAPTING

The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is a software module in the ESP/ABS control module to detect slow and very slow losses of tire pressure at the wheels. TPMS compares the speed, i.e. the rolling circumference of the individual wheels using the ABS sensors. If the rolling circumference of a wheel changes, the TPMS warning lamp lights up in the instrument cluster.

  • The rolling circumference of a wheel can change if:
  • The tire pressure is too low.
  • The tire is damaged.
  • The vehicle is loaded unevenly.
  • The wheels of one axle are subjected to a greater load (e.g. pulling a trailer or when driving uphill and downhill).
  • Driving with snow chains.
  • The spare wheel is installed.
  • One wheel on an axle was changed (also if wheels were changed from front to rear or vice versa)

Adapting the tire pressure monitoring system:

  • Each time a tire is changed, the TPMS button arrow must be pressed with the ignition switched on and the vehicle at a standstill until a signal is heard.
  • Tire pressure monitoring system is adapted after signal has sounded.
  • During the learning phase, the tire pressure monitoring system performs only is only partially available. It only warns when tire pressure drops below the minimum permissible specified pressure.
  • If this still does not fix the problem, contact your authorized Audi dealer for assistance.

This can indicate one or more tires as well as the spare tire. If this is the case, the warning symbol appears together with the message Tire pressure!

2007 Q7 TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM

Tire Pressure Monitoring System, System Usage

Function:

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System is operated in MMI.

The system monitors tire pressure you have set and entered for monitoring.

Check and correct tire pressure according to specifications in the Owners Manual and store pressure via MMI.

Recode Tire Pressure Monitoring Control Module J502.

If Tire Pressure Monitoring Control Module J502 is replaced, new control module must be coded. To do this, proceed as follows.

Connect VAS 5051B , perform vehicle-specific entry into Guided Fault Finding and select “Function/Component Selection” using Goto button –> “Connecting Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B and selecting functions.”

Then

  • “Chassis …”
  •  “Tire pressure monitoring …”
  • “01- On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems”
  • “65 – Base Low Tire Pressure Monitoring Control Module” or “65 – High Tire Pressure Monitoring Control Module Sensor”
  • “J502 – Tire Pressure Monitoring Control Module, functions”
  •  “J502 – Code control module”
  • Tire pressure saving must be initiated after every desired change to specified pressures.
  • Save wheel change or tire pressures.
  • The correct saving of specified values in basic requirement for dependable tire pressure monitoring.
  • Switch ignition on.
  • Press “CAR” function button.
  • Using rotary switch, select “Systems” in CAR menu and acknowledge by pressing rotary switch.
  • Using rotary switch, select “Tire pressure monitoring” in CAR menu and acknowledge by pressing rotary switch.
  • Using rotary switch, select “Save tire pressures” or “Tire change” in CAR menu and acknowledge by pressing rotary switch.
  • Tire pressure saving must be initiated after every desired change to specified pressures.

STORING TIRE PRESSURE VALUES

NOTE:

  • Saving of tire pressures must be started after each deliberate change to specified values.
  • After storing, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System measures the current tire pressures and saves these as the new specified values. If the changed tire pressures are not displayed in the MMI display, then it is necessary to drive a short distances so that the tire sensor signal is received again.

Proceed as follows.

  •  Switch ignition on.
  • Press “CAR” function button in MMI operating system.
  • In “Car Menu” , select sub-point “Systems”.
  • Select “Tire Pressure Monitoring System”.
  • Select “Save tire pressures”.

Reset the system

  • Push the “RESET” button until ‘Display type’ appears
  • Push in the upper (lower) protrusion on the function selector switch ‘A’ to
  • Select the ‘Set’ option.
  • Storing the adjusting tire pressure (step2)
  • Push the ‘RESET’ ‘B’ button
  • Push in the upper (lower) protrusion on the function selector switch ‘A’ to
  • select the ‘Tire pressure’ option
  • Push the ‘RESET’ button.
  • Push in the upper (lower) protrusion on the function selector switch ‘A’ to
  • Select the ‘Store pressures’ option

Following each intentional change in specified pressures, the adjusted tire

pressure must be entered and confirmed again.

After you have saved the tire pressures, the system will measure the actual

Pressures once again, and then save these as the new pressures.

The system monitors the tire pressure that was set for monitoring in each of the four tires.

The tire pressures must be checked, corrected and saved via the Multimedia Control Head (E380) under the menu items ” CAR”, “Systems” and “Tire Pressure Monitoring”. Then check and correct the tire pressure for the tires on the vehicle (including spare tire) according to the specifications on the sticker on the fuel filler flap/B-pillar.
